Social Responsibility & Self-employment
We’ve all heard the buzzwords: ‘corporate social responsibility’ (CSR). CSR most often refers to the means by which large companies measure their environmental performance and social impact, as well as their implementation practices in improving social and environmental performance. But many of these practices are not feasible for small enterprises. Intrigued by the gap in research on small business and CSR, Laughing Matters has been engaged in a research partnership with VanCity Savings Credit Union and the University of Alberta, to examine what social responsibility looks like for micro-enterprises.
