Making Change for the Better:

Longer description: Whether we like it or not change is the only constant and the pace of change continues to accelerate rapidly. Dealing effectively with change involves increasing several different skill sets including diversity and conflict resolution skills, creativity and innovation and celebration.

Often difficulties in dealing with change stem from communication misunderstandings. When we are stressed and / or in conflict we are less likely to communicate effectively which increases the stress level, resulting in a vicious cycle. Learning more about each other’s differences and similarities (e.g. thinking and learning styles) can help to prevent conflict and help us deal more effectively with change.

Increasing our creativity and innovation skill sets helps with problem solving and decision making. Learning more about being creative means learning how to thrive in an atmosphere of change and diversity. The first steps in reducing stress are acknowledging what we have control over and what we don’t and using this to create customized action plan.

Finally when change is in the works the last thing people tend to think about and one of the most important is celebration. Appreciating the dedication and hard work of staff, volunteers, participants, board members and administration is key to managing change well. It’s about learning more about how to celebrate and have fun while being inclusive, which Laughing Matters is perfectly positioned to help you do.
